Black Toyota Warwick
This motor vehicle sales showroom and workshop is located on a prominent site at the entrance to Warwick on the New England Highway.
Its location and outlook to the main highway meant a considerable amount of glazing would be orientated to the west, which together with local planning requirements limiting aspects such as site access ensured a complex design framework.
The resultant building has an articulated mass that addresses the highway and creates a modern façade consistent with the vehicle showroom vernacular without creating a building that would struggle climatically.
Extensive consideration was given to sustainable design practises with extensive reuse of collected onsite roof water, high access to natural light and ventilation and optimised circulation to minimise footprint size.
A facetted showroom can be adapted to multiple configurations with 3 primary entry points. A circular reception with associated client café bar leads through to the service reception and drop off. Close knit access paths link these public areas to a 21 bay state of the art service area.
Comments from the dealership corporate management rank the site as one of its best. The design was awarded the 2010 BDAQ regional design award for “Best Commercial Building”.
