This was a renovation project where the classic mid-20th century exterior was to be retained. This direction meant the materials, roof lines and proportions all needed to be respected. The home had been previously added to and this provided some additional intrigue to the process.
The design sought to limit the scope of structural changes to the original building. It provided a new kitchen / dining / outdoor entertaining area, with vision and easy access to the pool area, whilst retaining connectivity to the existing home.
Without turning the existing home completely on its head, the design team had to work with the existing orientation, meaning the kitchen and dining area faced west overlooking the pool, however the roofed deck areas provide adequate shelter.
