Rangeville Community Church

The Rangeville Community Church (RCC) building in Rangeville Toowoomba is a community orientated development that supports the ethos of its congregation by providing church services, counselling and youth programs to the community.

This project has successfully negotiated the inclusion of a large public building into a generally suburban precinct incorporating noise, traffic and scale issues.

The building sophisticatedly reflects the client’s brief to combine many functions in one building whilst creating a structure that is a landmark in its precinct. A staged construction path was carefully designed and project managed to suit the Client’s funding strategy.

The design is underpinned by a central axis that is orientated north-east focusing on the local landmark, Picnic Point. Stage 1 features a foyer balanced directly on this axis designed as a multi-use space to cater for conventions, community gatherings and auditorium overflows. These areas support a 500 seat multi-use auditorium, church administration, counselling spaces, commercial kitchen and multi-purpose rooms.

Stage 2 comprises an 1100 seat main auditorium with a sloping floor providing enhanced visual access supported by sound rooms, green rooms and back of stage areas.

The latest in technologies will be utilised throughout the building including lighting, sound, acoustic wall and ceiling systems.  Even the spire reaching to the sky is to be made of composite fibre material.

This project will be one of the most prominent in the region with construction started in May 2010, and Stage 1 is expected for completion in early 2011.
